Clothing
Clothing from modern camping stores is really great if not a little expensive at times. They are light, warm and dry quickly. Although the weather is mild for many months of the year, it is important to remember each day is a full day’s walk so you must be prepared to be outside for 6 – 8 hours.
- runners (worn in but good condition)
- socks and undies
- compression pants (my preference . Either long or short is okay)
- 1 pair of long pants to wear on last day’s walk along the railway line.
- bumbag (handy for small immediate items)
- wide brimmed hat
- long sleeve shirt, t-shirts
- open toed sandals or thongs (great for après camino)
- spray jacket
- 1 polar fleece or warm woolen jumper
- something to sleep in (I use my thermals)
- casual dinner attire
Equipment
- duffel bag for the trailer (keep it to one item only)
- small day pack for hiking
- towel (for school camp at Cape Bridgewater)
- toiletries
- insect repellant
- earplugs (the most underrated piece of camping equipment)
- minor medical items. (plenty of band aids, sun screen, antiseptic spray, lip balm, burn and bite gel, paw paw cream, panadol etc. )
- water bottles for 3 litres (camel back with tube is highly recommended)
- walking poles (I strongly recommend them)
- small camera
